John Erskine Civil War Letter

This single letter was written in Atlanta by Erskine to Franklin P. Brown, the young son of Governor Joseph E. Brown in Milledgeville, Georgia. He sent books to the boy and described his favorite childhood stories. He also commented that "Gen. Finegan has given the Yankees a good drubbing in East Florida."

John H. and Caroline C. McTyre family letters

Primarily Civil War letters from John H. McTyre (sometimes McTier), 41st Regiment Georgia Volunteers, Company C, who in one letter wrote from the ditches west of Atlanta. He wrote to his wife Caroline about the death of her brother, James Cox, of his fears that he may never see his family again, and makes references to their sons, Randy and Jimmy.
